47:28 ذلك بانهم اتبعوا مااسخط الله وكرهوا رضوانه فاحبط اعمالهم


TransliterationThalika bi-annahumu ittabaAAoo ma askhata Allaha wakarihoo ridwanahu faahbata aAAmalahum
LiteralThat (is) with that they followed what angered/dissatisfied God, and they hated His acceptance/satisfaction , so He wasted/invalidated their deeds.

Yusuf AliThis because they followed that which called forth the Wrath of Allah, and they hated Allah's good pleasure; so He made their deeds of no effect.
PickthalThat will be because they followed that which angereth Allah, and hated that which pleaseth Him. Therefor He hath made their actions vain.
Arberry That is because they have followed what angers God, and have been averse to His good pleasure, so He has made their works to fail.
ShakirThat is because they follow what is displeasing to Allah and are averse to His pleasure, therefore He has made null their deeds.
Sarwarfor their following that which had incurred God's anger, and their hatred to please God. Thus, God has made their deeds devoid of all virtue.
KhalifaThis is because they followed what angered GOD and hated the things that please Him. Consequently, He has nullified their works.
Hilali/KhanThat is because they followed that which angered Allah, and hated that which pleased Him. So He made their deeds fruitless.
H/K/SaheehThat is because they followed what angered Allah and disliked [what earns] His pleasure, so He rendered worthless their deeds.
MalikThat will happen because they followed the way that called for the wrath of Allah and hated to adopt the way of His pleasure, therefore He made all their deeds void.[28]
QXPThis, because they followed that which brings Allah's disapproval, and detested the actions that win His Approval. And so, He renders all their actions fruitless.
Maulana AliThat is because they follow that which displeases Allah and are averse to His pleasure, so He makes their deeds fruitless.
Free MindsThat is because they followed that which angered God, and they hated that which pleased Him. Thus, He nullified their works.
Qaribullah That is because they follow what angers Allah and hate His pleasure, therefore He has annulled their deeds.

George SaleThis shall they suffer, because they follow that which provoketh God to wrath, and are averse to what is well pleasing unto Him: And He will render their works vain.

AsadThis, because they were wont to pursue what God con­ demns and to hate [whatever would meet with] His goodly acceptance: [See first clause of verse 3 of this surah, which speaks of the "pursuit of falsehood". In the present instance, "that which would meet with His goodly acceptance" is the believer's readiness to sacrifice, if necessary, his life in the defense of the Faith.] and so He has caused all their [good] deeds to come to nought.
