| Transliteration | Faya/tiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona |
| Literal | So it comes to them suddenly/unexpectedly, and (while) they are not feeling/knowing/sensing. |
| Yusuf Ali | But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; |
| Pickthal | So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. |
| Arberry | so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, |
