| Transliteration | Faakhathahu Allahu nakala al-akhirati waal-oola |
| Literal | So God punished/took him (the) severe exemplary punishment (of) the end (other life) and the first/beginning. |
| Yusuf Ali | But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. |
