| 7:177 ساء مثلا القوم الذين كذبوا باياتنا وانفسهم كانوا يظلمون | |
| Transliteration | Saa mathalan alqawmu allatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatina waanfusahum kanoo yathlimoona |
| Literal | It became bad/evil an example/proverb (of) the nation those who lied/denied/falsified with Our verses/evidences, and were causing injustice/oppression (to) themselves. |
| Yusuf Ali | Evil as an example are people who reject Our signs and wrong their own souls. |
| Pickthal | Evil as an example are the folk who denied Our revelations, and were wont to wrong themselves. |
