at-Takwir 081:001

‏81:1 سورة التكوير بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ اذا الشمس كورت

Transliteration	Itha alshshamsu kuwwirat
Literal	When/if the sun's light rolled/rotated .

Yusuf Ali	When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;
Pickthal	When the sun is overthrown,
Arberry	When the sun shall be darkened,
Shakir	When the sun is covered,
Sarwar	(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining,
Khalifa	When the sun is rolled.
Hilali/Khan	When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown ).
H/K/Saheeh	When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
Malik	81 AT-TAKWIR - EXTINGUISHED In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful., When the sun will cease to shine;[1]
QXP	When the Sun is folded up. (Monarchies come to an end).
Maulana Ali	When the sun is folded up,

Qaribullah	When the sun is woundup;

at-Takwir 081:002

‏81:2 واذا النجوم انكدرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha alnnujoomu inkadarat
Literal	And when/if the stars/planets became dispersed/dulled .

Yusuf Ali	When the stars fall, losing their lustre;
Pickthal	And when the stars fall,
Arberry	when the stars shall be thrown down,
Shakir	And when the stars darken,
Sarwar	the stars are made to fade away,
Khalifa	The stars are crashed into each other.
Hilali/Khan	And when the stars shall fall;
H/K/Saheeh	And when the stars fall, dispersing,
Malik	when the stars will loose their luster;[2]
QXP	And when the stars lose their glow. (Tribal dictatorships fall).
Maulana Ali	And when the stars are dust-coloured,
Free Minds	And when the stars cannot be seen.
Qaribullah	when the stars are thrown down,

George Sale	and when the stars shall fall;

at-Takwir 081:003

‏81:3 واذا الجبال سيرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha aljibalu suyyirat
Literal	And when/if the mountains were made to move .

Yusuf Ali	When the mountains vanish (like a mirage);
Pickthal	And when the hills are moved,
Arberry	when the mountains shall be set moving,
Shakir	And when the mountains are made to pass away,
Sarwar	the mountains are scattered about as dust,
Khalifa	The mountains are wiped out.
Hilali/Khan	And when the mountains shall made to pass away;
H/K/Saheeh	And when the mountains are removed
Malik	when the mountains will be blown away;[3]
QXP	And when the mountains are moved (The 'great ones' lose their stronghold (20:105), (56:5), (78:20)).
Maulana Ali	And when the mountains are made to pass away,
Free Minds	And when the mountains are made to move.
Qaribullah	and the mountains have been taken,

George Sale	and when the mountains shall be made to pass away;
JM Rodwell	And when the mountains shall be set in motion,

Asad	and when the mountains are made to vanish,

at-Takwir 081:004

‏81:4 واذا العشار عطلت

Transliteration	Wa-itha alAAisharu AAuttilat
Literal	And when/if the female camels and other livestock over ten months pregnant were abandoned/left unsupervised (miscarried) .

Yusuf Ali	When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended;
Pickthal	And when the camels big with young are abandoned,
Arberry	when the pregnant camels shall be neglected,
Shakir	And when the camels are left untended,
Sarwar	the young barren camels are abandoned,
Khalifa	The reproduction is halted.
Hilali/Khan	And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected;
H/K/Saheeh	And when full-term she-camels are neglected
Malik	when the ten-month pregnant she-camels will be left unattended;[4]
QXP	And when the she-camels, ten months with the young, are abandoned. (A she-camel about to deliver the young has been a precious commodity, but the means of transportation will change).
Maulana Ali	And when the camels are abandoned,
Free Minds	And when the reproduction is ended.
Qaribullah	when the pregnant camels are neglected,

George Sale	and when the camels ten months gone with young shall be neglected;
JM Rodwell	And when the she-camels shall be abandoned,

Asad	and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended,

at-Takwir 081:005

‏81:5 واذا الوحوش حشرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha alwuhooshu hushirat
Literal	And when/if the wild beasts were gathered.

Yusuf Ali	When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations);
Pickthal	And when the wild beasts are herded together,
Arberry	when the savage beasts shall be mustered,
Shakir	And when the wild animals are made to go forth,
Sarwar	the wild beasts are herded together,
Khalifa	The beasts are summoned.
Hilali/Khan	And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together;
H/K/Saheeh	And when the wild beasts are gathered
Malik	when the wild beasts will be brought together;[5]
QXP	And when the wild beasts are herded together. (The nomads and even the cannibals civilize and lead an organized collective life).
Maulana Ali	And when the wild animals are gathered together,
Free Minds	And when the beasts are gathered.
Qaribullah	when the savage beasts are gathered

George Sale	and when the wild beasts shall be gathered together;

at-Takwir 081:006

‏81:6 واذا البحار سجرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha albiharu sujjirat
Literal	And when/if the seas/oceans filled and over flowed.

Yusuf Ali	When the oceans boil over with a swell;
Pickthal	And when the seas rise,
Arberry	when the seas shall be set boiling,
Shakir	And when the seas are set on fire,
Sarwar	the oceans are brought to a boil,
Khalifa	The oceans are set aflame.
Hilali/Khan	And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow;
H/K/Saheeh	And when the seas are filled with flame
Malik	when the oceans will be set ablaze;[6]
QXP	And when the seas bustle with ships.
Maulana Ali	And when the cities are made to swell,
Free Minds	And when the seas are made to boil.
Qaribullah	when the seas are set boiling,

George Sale	and when the seas shall boil;

at-Takwir 081:007

‏81:7 واذا النفوس زوجت

Transliteration	Wa-itha alnnufoosu zuwwijat
Literal	And when/if the selves were made in pairs/couples .

Yusuf Ali	When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like);
Pickthal	And when souls are reunited,
Arberry	when the souls shall be coupled,
Shakir	And when souls are united,
Sarwar	souls are reunited with their bodies,
Khalifa	The souls are restored to their bodies.
Hilali/Khan	And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies;
H/K/Saheeh	And when the souls are paired
Malik	when the souls will be reunited with the bodies;[7]
QXP	And when the people intermingle. (The world becomes a smaller place).
Maulana Ali	And when men are united,
Free Minds	And when the souls are paired.
Qaribullah	when the souls are coupled (to their body),

George Sale	and when the souls shall be joined again to their bodies;
JM Rodwell	And when souls shall be paired with their bodies,

Asad	and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds],

at-Takwir 081:008

‏81:8 واذا الموؤودة سئلت

Transliteration	Wa-itha almawoodatu su-ilat
Literal	And when/if the buried alive was asked/questioned:

Yusuf Ali	When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned -
Pickthal	And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked
Arberry	when the buried infant shall be asked
Shakir	And when the female infant buried alive is asked
Sarwar	questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive,.
Khalifa	The girl who was buried alive is asked:
Hilali/Khan	And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned.
H/K/Saheeh	And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
Malik	when the infant girls buried alive (here reference is made to the Pre-Islamic Arab custom of burying new born girls alive) will be questioned[8]
QXP	And when the little girl that was buried alive is made to ask -
Maulana Ali	And when the one buried alive is asked
Free Minds	And when the girl killed in infancy is asked,
Qaribullah	when the buried female infant is asked

George Sale	and when the girl who hath been buried alive shall be asked
JM Rodwell	And when the female child that had been buried alive shall be asked

Asad	and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask

at-Takwir 081:009

‏81:9 باي ذنب قتلت

Transliteration	Bi-ayyi thanbin qutilat
Literal	With (because of) which crime it was killed?

Yusuf Ali	For what crime she was killed;
Pickthal	For what sin she was slain,
Arberry	for what sin she was slain,
Shakir	For what sin she was killed,
Sarwar	such as, "For what crime were they murdered?"
Khalifa	For what crime was she killed?
Hilali/Khan	For what sin she was killed?
H/K/Saheeh	For what sin she was killed
Malik	for what sin she was killed;[9]
QXP	For what crime she was slain. (Women's rights will be restored).
Maulana Ali	For what sin she was killed,

at-Takwir 081:010

‏81:10 واذا الصحف نشرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha alssuhufu nushirat
Literal	And when/if the written pages (scriptures) were spread/publicized .

Yusuf Ali	When the scrolls are laid open;
Pickthal	And when the pages are laid open,
Arberry	when the scrolls shall be unrolled,
Shakir	And when the books are spread,
Sarwar	the records of deeds are made public,
Khalifa	The records are made known.
Hilali/Khan	And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open;
H/K/Saheeh	And when the pages are made public
Malik	when the record will be laid open;[10]
QXP	And when the papers are published widely.
Maulana Ali	And when the books are spread,
Free Minds	And when the records are displayed.
Qaribullah	when the scrolls are unrolled,

George Sale	and when the books shall be laid open;
JM Rodwell	And when the leaves of the Book shall be unrolled,

Asad	and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded,

at-Takwir 081:011

‏81:11 واذا السماء كشطت

Transliteration	Wa-itha alssamao kushitat
Literal	And when/if the sky/space was skimmed/scraped off/uncovered.

Yusuf Ali	When the world on High is unveiled;
Pickthal	And when the sky is torn away,
Arberry	when heaven shall be stripped off;
Shakir	And when the heaven has its covering removed,
Sarwar	the heavens are unveiled,
Khalifa	The heaven is removed.
Hilali/Khan	And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place;
H/K/Saheeh	And when the sky is stripped away
Malik	when the heaven will be stripped bare;[11]
QXP	And when the sky is unveiled. (The Space sciences advance).
Maulana Ali	And when the heaven has its covering removed,
Free Minds	And when the sky is removed.
Qaribullah	when heaven is stripped,

George Sale	and when the heaven shall be removed;
JM Rodwell	And when the Heaven shall be stripped away,

Asad	and when heaven is laid bare,

at-Takwir 081:012

‏81:12 واذا الجحيم سعرت

Transliteration	Wa-itha aljaheemu suAAAAirat
Literal	And when/if the Hell was ignited/blazed .

Yusuf Ali	When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat;
Pickthal	And when hell is lighted,
Arberry	when Hell shall be set blazing,
Shakir	And when the hell is kindled up,
Sarwar	hell is made to blaze,
Khalifa	Hell is ignited.
Hilali/Khan	And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze.
H/K/Saheeh	And when Hellfire is set ablaze
Malik	when hell will be set to blaze,[12]
QXP	And when the Blazing Fire is ignited. (The guilty are swiftly apprehended).
Maulana Ali	And when hell is kindled,
Free Minds	And when Hell is ignited.
Qaribullah	when Hell is set ablaze,

George Sale	and when hell shall burn fiercely;
JM Rodwell	And when Hell shall be made to blaze,

Asad	and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright,

at-Takwir 081:013

‏81:13 واذا الجنة ازلفت

Transliteration	Wa-itha aljannatu ozlifat
Literal	And when/if the Paradise was advanced/brought near.

Yusuf Ali	And when the Garden is brought near;-
Pickthal	And when the Garden is brought nigh,
Arberry	when Paradise shall be brought nigh,
Shakir	And when the garden is brought nigh,
Sarwar	and Paradise is brought near,
Khalifa	Paradise is presented.
Hilali/Khan	And when Paradise shall be brought near,
H/K/Saheeh	And when Paradise is brought near,
Malik	and when the paradise will be brought near:[13]
QXP	And when the Paradise is brought near. (A glimpse of it on the earth).
Maulana Ali	And when the Garden is brought nigh --
Free Minds	And when Paradise is made near.
Qaribullah	when Paradise is brought near,

George Sale	and when paradise shall be brought near:
JM Rodwell	And when Paradise shall be brought near,

Asad	and when paradise is brought into view:

at-Takwir 081:014

‏81:14 علمت نفس مااحضرت

Transliteration	AAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat
Literal	A self knew what it presented/brought.

Yusuf Ali	(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward.
Pickthal	(Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready.
Arberry	then shall a soul know what it has produced.
Shakir	Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared.
Sarwar	then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds.
Khalifa	Every soul will know everything it brought.
Hilali/Khan	(Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).
H/K/Saheeh	A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].
Malik	then each soul shall know what it has bought with it.[14]
QXP	(Then) every person will see what he has prepared.
Maulana Ali	Every soul will know what it has prepared.
Free Minds	Every soul will know what it had done!
Qaribullah	then, each soul shall know what it has produced.

George Sale	Every soul shall know what it hath wrought.
JM Rodwell	Every soul shall know what it hath produced.

Asad	[on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself].

at-Takwir 081:015

‏81:15 فلا اقسم بالخنس

Transliteration	Fala oqsimu bialkhunnasi
Literal	So I do not swear/make oath by the planets .

Yusuf Ali	So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede,
Pickthal	Oh, but I call to witness the planets,
Arberry	No! I swear by the slinkers,
Shakir	But nay! I swear by the stars,
Sarwar	I do not need to swear by the orbiting
Khalifa	I solemnly swear by the galaxies.
Hilali/Khan	So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night).
H/K/Saheeh	So I swear by the retreating stars
Malik	But no! I swear by the retreating stars;[15]
QXP	Oh, but I call to witness the revolving planets.
Maulana Ali	Nay, I call to witness the stars,
Free Minds	So, I swear by the receding stars.
Qaribullah	Rather, I swear by the returning

George Sale	Verily I swear by the stars which are retrograde,
JM Rodwell	It needs not that I swear by the stars of retrograde motions

Asad	BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars,

at-Takwir 081:016

‏81:16 الجوار الكنس

Transliteration	Aljawari alkunnasi
Literal	The flowing/orbiting , the orbiting/sweeping planets/stars.

Yusuf Ali	Go straight, or hide;
Pickthal	The stars which rise and set,
Arberry	the runners, the sinkers,
Shakir	That run their course (and) hide themselves,
Sarwar	stars which are visible during the night
Khalifa	Precisely running in their orbits.
Hilali/Khan	And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves,
H/K/Saheeh	Those that run [their courses] and disappear
Malik	that run their course and hide;[16]
QXP	The stars which rise and set in their orbits.
Maulana Ali	Running their course, (and) setting,
Free Minds	Their orbits swept away.
Qaribullah	orbiting, disappearing;

George Sale	which move swiftly, and which hide themselves;
JM Rodwell	Which move swiftly and hide themselves away,

Asad	the planets that run their course and set,

at-Takwir 081:017

‏81:17 والليل اذا عسعس

Transliteration	Waallayli itha AAasAAasa
Literal	And the night when/if (it) passed/lightened .

Yusuf Ali	And the Night as it dissipates;
Pickthal	And the close of night,
Arberry	by the night swarming,
Shakir	And the night when it departs,
Sarwar	and sit during the day, or by the darkening night
Khalifa	By the night as it falls.
Hilali/Khan	And by the night as it departs;
H/K/Saheeh	And by the night as it closes in
Malik	by the night as it dissipates;[17]
QXP	And the Night as it slowly closes upon.
Maulana Ali	And the night when it departs.
Free Minds	And the night when it passes.
Qaribullah	by the night when it approaches

George Sale	and by the night, when it cometh on;
JM Rodwell	And by the night when it cometh darkening on,

Asad	and the night as it darkly falls,

at-Takwir 081:018

‏81:18 والصبح اذا تنفس

Transliteration	Waalssubhi itha tanaffasa
Literal	And the morning/daybreak when/if (it) breathed in or out (began).

Yusuf Ali	And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;-
Pickthal	And the breath of morning
Arberry	by the dawn sighing,
Shakir	And the morning when it brightens,
Sarwar	and brightening morning,
Khalifa	And the morn as it breathes.
Hilali/Khan	And by the dawn as it brightens;
H/K/Saheeh	And by the dawn when it breathes
Malik	by the morning when it breaths again:[18]
QXP	And the fresh breath of the morning.
Maulana Ali	And the morning when it brightens,
Free Minds	And the morning when it breathes.
Qaribullah	and the morning when it extends,

George Sale	and by the morning, when it appeareth;
JM Rodwell	And by the dawn when it brighteneth,

Asad	and the morn as it softly breathes:

at-Takwir 081:019

‏81:19 انه لقول رسول كريم

Transliteration	Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin
Literal	That it truly is an honored/generous messenger's word/statement/declaration (E).

Yusuf Ali	Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,
Pickthal	That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger,
Arberry	truly this is the word of a noble Messenger
Shakir	Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger,
Sarwar	that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger
Khalifa	This is the utterance of an honorable messenger.
Hilali/Khan	Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger (Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)).
H/K/Saheeh	[That] indeed, the Qurâ an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger
Malik	surely this word (The Qur’an) is brought by a noble Messenger (Gabriel),[19]
QXP	Behold, this indeed is the revealed Word in the dialect of a noble Messenger (69:40).
Maulana Ali	Surely it is the word of a bountiful Messenger,
Free Minds	It is the saying of an honourable messenger.
Qaribullah	it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger,

George Sale	that these are the words of an honourable messenger,
JM Rodwell	That this is the word of an illustrious Messenger,

Asad	behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle,

at-Takwir 081:020

‏81:20 ذي قوة عند ذي العرش مكين

Transliteration	Thee quwwatin AAinda thee alAAarshi makeenin
Literal	(Owner) of power at (owner) of the throne highly positioned/distinguished .

Yusuf Ali	Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne,
Pickthal	Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne,
Arberry	having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure,
Shakir	The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion,
Sarwar	who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne,
Khalifa	Authorized by the Possessor of the Throne, fully supported.
Hilali/Khan	Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne,
H/K/Saheeh	[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
Malik	possessor of mighty power, having very high rank with the Owner of the Throne (Allah),[20]
QXP	Strengthened by Him Who is enthroned in His Almightiness of Supreme Control.
Maulana Ali	The possessor of strength, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne,
Free Minds	With power and influence from the One of the throne.
Qaribullah	of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne

George Sale	endued with strengeth, of established dignity in the sight of the possessor of the throne,
JM Rodwell	Endued with power, having influence with the Lord of the Throne,

Asad	with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned

at-Takwir 081:021

‏81:21 مطاع ثم امين

Transliteration	MutaAAin thamma ameenin
Literal	Obeyed there at the same time or place, faithful/loyal .

Yusuf Ali	With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.
Pickthal	(One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy;
Arberry	obeyed, moreover trusty.
Shakir	One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust.
Sarwar	obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust.
Khalifa	He shall be obeyed and trusted.
Hilali/Khan	Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens).
H/K/Saheeh	Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.
Malik	who is obeyed in heaven, and is trustworthy.[21]
QXP	(The Messenger is) to be obeyed and trusted.
Maulana Ali	One (to be) obeyed, and faithful.
Free Minds	Obeyed, and trustworthy.
Qaribullah	obeyed, and honest.

George Sale	obeyed by the angels under his authority, and faithful:
JM Rodwell	Obeyed there by Angels, faithful to his trust,

Asad	[the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust!

at-Takwir 081:022

‏81:22 وماصاحبكم بمجنون

Transliteration	Wama sahibukum bimajnoonin
Literal	And your companion/friend is not with mad/insane.

Yusuf Ali	And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed;
Pickthal	And your comrade is not mad.
Arberry	Your companion is not possessed;
Shakir	And your companion is not gone mad.
Sarwar	Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness
Khalifa	Your friend (Rashad) is not crazy.
Hilali/Khan	And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman;
H/K/Saheeh	And your companion is not [at all] mad.
Malik	O people of Mecca! Your companion has not gone mad;[22]
QXP	For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman.
Maulana Ali	And your companion is not mad.
Free Minds	And your friend is not crazy.
Qaribullah	Your Companion is not mad,

George Sale	And your companion Mohammed is not distracted.
JM Rodwell	And your compatriot is not one possessed by djinn;

Asad	For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman:

at-Takwir 081:023

‏81:23 ولقد راه بالافق المبين

Transliteration	Walaqad raahu bialofuqi almubeeni
Literal	And he/He had seen/understood him/Him at the horizon/direction, the clear/evident .

Yusuf Ali	And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon.
Pickthal	Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon.
Arberry	he truly saw him on the clear horizon;
Shakir	And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon.
Sarwar	He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form
Khalifa	He saw him at the high horizon.
Hilali/Khan	And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him (Jibrael (Gabriel)) in the clear horizon (towards the east).
H/K/Saheeh	And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon.
Malik	he (Muhammad) indeed saw him (Gabriel) in the clear horizon[23]
QXP	And, indeed, he has found Wisdom at its highest horizon. (53:1-7).
Maulana Ali	And truly he saw himself on the clear horizon.
Free Minds	And he saw him by the clear horizon.
Qaribullah	in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon,

George Sale	He had already seen him in the clear horizon:
JM Rodwell	For he saw him in the clear horizon:

Asad	he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon;

at-Takwir 081:024

‏81:24 وماهو على الغيب بضنين

Transliteration	Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneenin
Literal	And he is not on the unseen/supernatural (future) with withholding/clinging .

Yusuf Ali	Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen.
Pickthal	And he is not avid of the Unseen.
Arberry	he is not niggardly of the Unseen.
Shakir	Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer.
Sarwar	He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen.
Khalifa	He is not holding back any news.
Hilali/Khan	And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen.
H/K/Saheeh	And Muúammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.
Malik	and he is not stingy to withhold the knowledge of the unseen.[24]
QXP	And he withholds not in secret the least bit of the Revelation.
Maulana Ali	Nor is he niggardly of the unseen.
Free Minds	And he has no knowledge of the future.
Qaribullah	he is not grudging of the Unseen.

George Sale	And he suspected not the secrets revealed unto him.
JM Rodwell	Nor doth he grapple with heaven's secrets,

Asad	and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception.

at-Takwir 081:025

‏81:25 وماهو بقول شيطان رجيم

Transliteration	Wama huwa biqawli shaytanin rajeemin
Literal	And it is not with a cursed/expelled devil's saying/statement .

Yusuf Ali	Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed.
Pickthal	Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned.
Arberry	And it is not the word of an accursed Satan;
Shakir	Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan,
Sarwar	The Quran is not the word of condemned satan.
Khalifa	It is not the talk of a rejected devil.
Hilali/Khan	And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan).
H/K/Saheeh	And the Qurâ an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].
Malik	This (Qur’an) is not the word of an accursed Satan.[25]
QXP	Nor is it the utterance of a rejected satanic force. (Such as desire).
Maulana Ali	Nor is it the word of an accursed devil --
Free Minds	And it is not the saying of an outcast devil.
Qaribullah	Nor is this the word of a stoned satan.

George Sale	Neither are these the words of an accursed devil.
JM Rodwell	Nor doth he teach the doctrine of a cursed Satan.

Asad	Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed.

at-Takwir 081:026

‏81:26 فاين تذهبون

Transliteration	Faayna tathhaboona
Literal	So where (do) you go ?

Yusuf Ali	When whither go ye?
Pickthal	Whither then go ye?
Arberry	where then are you going?
Shakir	Whither then will you go?
Sarwar	Where then will you go?.
Khalifa	Now then, where will you go?
Hilali/Khan	Then where are you going?
H/K/Saheeh	So where are you going?
Malik	Where then are you going?[26]
QXP	Which way, then, are you going?
Maulana Ali	Whither then are you going?
Free Minds	So where will you go?
Qaribullah	Where then are you going?

George Sale	Whither, therefore, are ye going?
JM Rodwell	Whither then are ye going?

Asad	Whither, then, will you go?

at-Takwir 081:027

‏81:27 ان هو الا ذكر للعالمين

Transliteration	In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
Literal	That truly it is except a reminder to the creations all together/(universes).

Yusuf Ali	Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:
Pickthal	This is naught else than a reminder unto creation,
Arberry	It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings,
Shakir	It is naught but a reminder for the nations,
Sarwar	This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind).
Khalifa	This is a message for all the people.
Hilali/Khan	Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the Alameen (mankind and jinns) .
H/K/Saheeh	It is not except a reminder to the worlds
Malik	This is but a Message to all the people of the world,[27]
QXP	This Message is no less than a Reminder and giver of eminence to all mankind.
Maulana Ali	It is naught but a Reminder for the nations,
Free Minds	It is but a reminder for the worlds.
Qaribullah	This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds,

George Sale	This is no other than an admonition unto all creatures;
JM Rodwell	Verily, this is no other than a warning to all creatures;

Asad	This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind -

at-Takwir 081:028

‏81:28 لمن شاء منكم ان يستقيم

Transliteration	Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeema
Literal	To who willed/wanted from you that (E) to be straight/direct.

Yusuf Ali	(With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight:
Pickthal	Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight.
Arberry	for whosoever of you who would go straight;
Shakir	For him among you who pleases to go straight.
Sarwar	So let those who want, choose the right guidance
Khalifa	For those who wish to go straight.
Hilali/Khan	To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight,
H/K/Saheeh	For whoever wills among you to take a right course.
Malik	to each one who wishes to follow the Right Way.[28]
QXP	Unto everyone of you who wills to walk aright. (1:5).
Maulana Ali	For him among you who will go straight.
Free Minds	For whomever of you wishes to be straight.
Qaribullah	for whosoever of you would go straight,

George Sale	unto him among you who shall be willing to walk uprightly:
JM Rodwell	To him among you who willeth to walk in a straight path:

Asad	to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way.

at-Takwir 081:029

‏81:29 وماتشاؤون الا ان يشاء الله رب العالمين

Transliteration	Wama tashaoona illa an yashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameena
Literal	And you do not want/will/intend except that (E) (if) God wants/wills/intends, the creations all together's/(universe's) Lord.

Yusuf Ali	But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds.
Pickthal	And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation.
Arberry	but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being.
Shakir	And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds.
Sarwar	However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so.
Khalifa	Whatever you will is in accordance with the will of GOD, Lord of the universe.
Hilali/Khan	And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists).
H/K/Saheeh	And you do not will except that Allah wills Lord of the worlds.
Malik	Yet your wishes are of no avail unless Allah, the Lord of the worlds, pleases so.[29]
QXP	But you cannot will it unless you abide by the Laws of the Lord of the Worlds. (4:88).
Maulana Ali	And you will not, except Allah please, the Lord of the worlds.
Free Minds	And you cannot will anything except if God also wills, the Lord of the worlds.
Qaribullah	but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds.

George Sale	But ye shall not will, unless God willeth, the Lord of all creatures.
JM Rodwell	But will it ye shall not, unless as God willeth it, the Lord of the worlds.

Asad	But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way].

No soul can believe exept by the will of Allah
