71:1 سورة نوح بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ انا ارسلنا نوحا الى قومه ان انذر قومك من قبل ان ياتيهم عذاب اليم


TransliterationInna arsalna noohan ila qawmihi an anthir qawmaka min qabli an ya/tiyahum AAathabun aleemun
LiteralThat We sent Noah to his nation, that (E) warn/give notice (to) your nation from before that (E) a painful torture comes to them.

Yusuf AliWe sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty."
PickthalLo! We sent Noah unto his people (saying): Warn thy people ere the painful doom come unto them.
Arberry We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.'
ShakirSurely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement.
SarwarWe sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them".
KhalifaWe sent Noah to his people: "You shall warn your people before a painful retribution afflicts them."
Hilali/KhanVerily, We sent Nooh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment."

MalikWe sent Noah to his people, saying: "Give warning to your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."[1]
QXPBehold, We sent Noah unto his nation, "Warn your people before an awful doom comes to them."
Maulana AliSurely We sent Noah to his people, saying: Warn thy people before there come to them a painful chastisement.

Qaribullah We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them. '

AsadBEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them!



Nuh 071:002

71:2 قال ياقوم اني لكم نذير مبين


TransliterationQala ya qawmi innee lakum natheerun mubeenun
LiteralHe said: "My nation, that I am for you a clear/evident warner/giver of notice."

Yusuf AliHe said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open:
PickthalHe said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you
Arberry He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner,
ShakirHe said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you:
SarwarNoah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly.
KhalifaHe said, "O my people, I am a manifest warner to you.
Hilali/KhanHe said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you,
H/K/SaheehHe said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner,
MalikHe said: "O my People! I am sent towards you as a plain Warner.[2]
QXPHe said, "O My people! Behold, I am a plain Warner to you.
Maulana AliHe said: O my people, surely I am a plain warner to you:

Qaribullah He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you.

George SaleNoah said, O my people, verily I am a public warner unto you;
JM RodwellHe said, "O my people! I come to you a plain-spoken warner:

Asad[And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you]



Nuh 071:003

71:3 ان اعبدوا الله واتقوه واطيعون


TransliterationAni oAAbudoo Allaha waittaqoohu waateeAAooni
LiteralThat (E) worship God and fear and obey Him, and obey me.

Yusuf Ali"That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me:
Pickthal(Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me,
Arberry saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me,
ShakirThat you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me:
SarwarWorship God, have fear of Him and obey me.
Khalifa"To alert you that you shall worship GOD, reverence Him, and obey me.
Hilali/Khan"That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me,
H/K/Saheeh[Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.
MalikWorship Allah, fear Him and obey me.[3]
QXPThat you serve Allah and be mindful of Him. Now, do pay heed to me.
Maulana AliThat you should serve Allah and keep your duty to Him and obey me --

Qaribullah Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me.

Nuh 071:004

71:4 يغفر لكم من ذنوبكم ويؤخركم الى اجل مسمى ان اجل الله اذا جاء لايؤخر لو كنتم تعلمون


TransliterationYaghfir lakum min thunoobikum wayu-akhkhirkum ila ajalin musamman inna ajala Allahi itha jaa la yu-akhkharu law kuntum taAAlamoona
LiteralHe forgives for you from your crimes, and He delays you to a named/identified (specified) term/time, that truly God's term/time if (it) came (it) does not be delayed, if you were knowing .

Yusuf Ali"So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew."
PickthalThat He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew.
Arberry and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."'
ShakirHe will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know!
SarwarHe will forgive your sins and give you a respite for an appointed time. When the time which God has appointed arrives, none will be able to postpone it. Would that you knew this!".
Khalifa"He will then forgive you your sins and respite you for a predetermined period. Most assuredly, GOD's appointment can never be delayed, once it is due, if you only knew."
Hilali/Khan"He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew."
H/K/SaheehAllah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.â
MalikIf you will do so, He will forgive you your sins and give you respite for an appointed term. The fact is that when the term given by Allah arrives, it cannot be deferred. If you could understand!"[4]
QXPHe will then protect you from the detriment of trailing behind in humanity and respite you until a term appointed. Behold, when the term appointed by Allah comes, it cannot be delayed - if you but knew this (Law)."
Maulana AliHe will forgive you some of your sins and grant you respite to an appointed term. Surely the term of Allah, when it comes, is not postponed. Did you but know!
Free Minds"He shall forgive your sins and delay you to a predetermined time. When God's time comes, then it cannot be delayed, if you know."
Qaribullah He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew. '

George SaleHe will forgive you part of your sins, and will grant you respite until a determined time: For God's determined time, when it cometh, shall not be deferred; if ye were men of understanding, ye would know this.
JM RodwellYour sins will He forgive you, and respite you till the fixed Time; for when God's fixed Time hath come, it shall not be put back. Would that ye knew this!"

Asadso that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: 1 but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!"



Nuh 071:005

71:5 قال رب اني دعوت قومي ليلا ونهارا


TransliterationQala rabbi innee daAAawtu qawmee laylan wanaharan
LiteralHe said: "My Lord, that I , I called my nation at night/nightly and day time."

Yusuf AliHe said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day:
PickthalHe said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day
Arberry He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day,
ShakirHe said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day!
SarwarNoah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day,
KhalifaHe said, "My Lord, I have invited my people night and day.
Hilali/KhanHe said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism) ,
H/K/SaheehHe said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day.
MalikAfter exhausting all his efforts Noah said: "O Lord! I have pleaded with my people night and day,[5]
QXPHe said, "My Lord! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day.
Maulana AliHe said: My Lord, I have called my people night and day:
Free MindsHe said: "My Lord, I have called on my people night and day."
Qaribullah 'My Lord, ' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation,

George SaleHe said, Lord, verily I have called my people night and day;
JM RodwellHe said, "Lord I have cried to my people night and day;

Asad[And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day

71:6 فلم يزدهم دعائي الا فرارا


TransliterationFalam yazidhum duAAa-ee illa firaran
LiteralSo my call did not increase them except escape/fleeing .

Yusuf Ali"But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right).
PickthalBut all my calling doth but add to their repugnance;
Arberry but my calling has only increased them in flight.
ShakirBut my call has only made them flee the more:
Sarwarbut it has had no effect on them except to make them run away.
Khalifa"But my invitation only increased their aversion.
Hilali/Khan"But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth).
H/K/SaheehBut my invitation increased them not except in flight.
Malikbut my plea has only added to their aversion.[6]
QXPBut my call only increases their fleeing.
Maulana AliBut my call has only made them flee the more.
Free Minds"But my calling only drove them away!"
Qaribullah but my call has only increased them in running away.

George Salebut my calling only increaseth their aversion:
JM Rodwelland my cry doth but make them flee from me the more.

Asadbut my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee].



Nuh 071:007

71:7 واني كلما دعوتهم لتغفر لهم جعلوا اصابعهم في اذانهم واستغشوا ثيابهم واصروا واستكبروا استكبارا


TransliterationWa-innee kullama daAAawtuhum litaghfira lahum jaAAaloo asabiAAahum fee athanihim waistaghshaw thiyabahum waasarroo waistakbaroo istikbaran
LiteralAnd that I, whenever I called them (for You) to forgive for them, they made/put their fingers in their ears, and they covered/darkened themselves (with) their clothes/garments , and they persisted/insisted, and they became arrogant, arrogantly.

Yusuf Ali"And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance.
PickthalAnd lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride.
Arberry And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud.
ShakirAnd whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride:
SarwarEvert time I invite them to Your (guidance) so that You can forgive them, they put their fingers into their ears, cover their heads with their clothes, persist in their disbelief and display extreme arrogance.
Khalifa"Whenever I invited them to be forgiven by You, they placed their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their clothes, insisted, and turned arrogant.
Hilali/Khan"And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride.
H/K/SaheehAnd indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.
MalikEach time I called on them to seek Your pardon, they thrust their fingers in their ears and drew their cloaks over their heads, persisting in sin and puffing themselves up with insolent pride.[7]
QXPAnd, behold, whenever I call unto them to be forgiven by You, they thrust their fingers in their ears - and veil themselves in their garments. And they persist in this behavior glorifying themselves in pride. (11:5).
Maulana AliAnd whenever I call to them Thou mayest forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are big with pride.
Free Minds"And every time I called on them so that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears and they covered their heads with their outer garments and they insisted, and they became greatly arrogant."
Qaribullah Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud.

George SaleAnd whensoever I call them to the true faith, that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and cover themselves with their garments, and persist in their infidelity, and proudly disdain my counsel.
JM RodwellSo oft as I cry to them, that thou mayest forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves in their garments, and persist in their error, and are disdainfully disdainful.

AsadAnd behold, whenever I called unto them with a view to Thy granting them forgiveness, they put their fingers into their ears, and wrapped themselves up in their garments [of sin]; 3 and grew obstinate, and became [yet more] arrogant in their false pride.

71:8 ثم اني دعوتهم جهارا


TransliterationThumma innee daAAawtuhum jiharan
LiteralThen, that I, I called them publicly .

Yusuf Ali"So I have called to them aloud;
PickthalAnd lo! I have called unto them aloud,
Arberry Then indeed I called them openly;
ShakirThen surely I called to them aloud:
SarwarI preached to them aloud, in public.
Khalifa"Then I invited them publicly
Hilali/Khan"Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud);
H/K/SaheehThen I invited them publicly.
MalikI have called them aloud,[8]
QXPAnd, behold, then I called unto them aloud.
Maulana AliThen surely I have called to them aloud,
Free Minds"Then I called to them openly."
Qaribullah I called to them clearly,

George SaleMoreover I invited them openly,
JM RodwellThen I cried aloud to them:

71:9 ثم اني اعلنت لهم واسررت لهم اسرارا


TransliterationThumma innee aAAlantu lahum waasrartu lahum israran
LiteralThen, that I, I declared/publicized for them, and I confided for them secretly.

Yusuf Ali"Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private,
PickthalAnd lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private.
Arberry then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly,
ShakirThen surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret:
SarwarThen I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private,
Khalifa"Then I proclaimed to them loudly, and I spoke to them privately.
Hilali/Khan"Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private,
H/K/SaheehThen I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly
Malikappealed them openly in public and secretly in private,[9]
QXPAnd, behold, I addressed them in gatherings and spoke to them individually in private."
Maulana AliThen spoken to them in public and spoken to them in private,
Free Minds"Then I announced to them, and I spoke to them in secret."
Qaribullah and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret:

George Saleand I spake to them again in public; and I also secretly admonished them in private:

Asadand, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private;

71:10 فقلت استغفروا ربكم انه كان غفارا


TransliterationFaqultu istaghfiroo rabbakum innahu kana ghaffaran
LiteralSo I said: 'Ask for forgiveness (from) your Lord, that He truly was/is a forgiver/often, forgiving.'

Yusuf Ali"Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving;
PickthalAnd I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving.
Arberry and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving,
ShakirThen I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving:
Sarwarand told them, Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving".
Khalifa"I said, `Implore your Lord for forgiveness; He is Forgiving.
Hilali/Khan"I said (to them): Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving;
H/K/SaheehAnd said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.
Maliksaying: "Seek forgiveness of your Lord, He is ever ready to forgive you.[10]
QXPAnd I have said, "Seek forgiveness of your Lord. Behold, He is ever Forgiving.
Maulana AliSo I have said: Ask forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever Forgiving:
Free Minds"And I said: Seek forgiveness from your Lord, for He was forgiving."
Qaribullah "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver.

George SaleAnd I said, beg pardon of your Lord; for He is inclined to forgive:
JM RodwellAnd I said, Beg forgiveness of your Lord, for He is ready to forgive.

Asadand I said: "Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving!



Nuh 071:011

71:11 يرسل السماء عليكم مدرارا


TransliterationYursili alssamaa AAalaykum midraran
Literal'He sends the sky/space on you flowing/pouring abundantly.'

Yusuf Ali"'He will send rain to you in abundance;
PickthalHe will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain,
Arberry and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents
ShakirHe will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain:
SarwarHe will send you abundant rain from the sky,
Khalifa" `He will then shower you generously with rain.
Hilali/KhanHe will send rain to you in abundance;
H/K/SaheehHe will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers
MalikHe will send abundant rain for you from heaven,[11]
QXPHe will shower upon you heavenly blessings.
Maulana AliHe will send down upon you rain, pouring in abundance,
Free Minds"He sends the clouds upon you constantly."
Qaribullah He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance

George SaleAnd He will cause the heaven to pour down rain plentifully upon you,
JM RodwellHe will send down the very Heaven upon you in plenteous rains;

AsadHe will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant,



Nuh 071:012

71:12 ويمددكم باموال وبنين ويجعل لكم جنات ويجعل لكم انهارا


TransliterationWayumdidkum bi-amwalin wabaneena wayajAAal lakum jannatin wayajAAal lakum anharan
Literal'And He extends/spreads you with properties/possessions , and sons and daughters, and He makes/puts for you treed gardens/paradises, and He makes/puts for you rivers/waterways.'

Yusuf Ali"'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water).
PickthalAnd will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers.
Arberry and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers.
ShakirAnd help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers.
Sarwarstrengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you.
Khalifa" `And provide you with money and children, and orchards, and streams.'
Hilali/KhanAnd give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers. "
H/K/SaheehAnd give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.
Malikhelp you with wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and the flowing rivers.[12]
QXPAnd will help you with goods and riches and flourishing families, and will grant you gardens and will bestow upon you flowing rivulets."
Maulana AliAnd help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers.
Free Minds"And He provides you with money and children, and He makes for you gardens, and He makes for you rivers."
Qaribullah and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers.

George Saleand will give you increase of wealth and of children; and He will provide you gardens, and furnish you with rivers.
JM RodwellAnd will increase you in wealth and children; and will give you gardens, and will give you watercourses:-

Asadand will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters.



Nuh 071:013

71:13 مالكم لاترجون لله وقارا


TransliterationMa lakum la tarjoona lillahi waqaran
Literal'Why for you, you do not hope/expect for God a glory/respect ?'

Yusuf Ali"'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,-
PickthalWhat aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity
Arberry What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God,
ShakirWhat is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah?
SarwarWhat is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God
KhalifaWhy should you not strive to reverence GOD?
Hilali/KhanWhat is the matter with you, (that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and) you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness).
H/K/SaheehWhat is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur
MalikWhat is the matter with you that you do not regard the greatness of Allah[13]
QXPWhat is the matter with you that you seek not for dignity toward Allah? (His Laws can give you dignity and eminence).
Maulana AliWhat is the matter with you that you hope not for greatness from Allah?
Free Minds"Why do you not seek God humbly."
Qaribullah What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah,

George SaleWhat aileth you, that ye hope not for benevolence in God;
JM RodwellWhat hath come to you that ye hope not for goodness from the hand of God?

Asad"What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty,



Nuh 071:014

71:14 وقد خلقكم اطوارا


TransliterationWaqad khalaqakum atwaran
Literal'And He had created you (in) parallels/varieties/stages .'

Yusuf Ali"'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages?
PickthalWhen He created you by (divers) stages?
Arberry seeing He created you by stages?
ShakirAnd indeed He has created you through various grades:
Sarwarwho has created you in several stages?
KhalifaHe is the One who created you in stages.
Hilali/KhanWhile He has created you in (different) stages (i.e. first Nutfah, then Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV.23:13,14) the Quran).
H/K/SaheehWhile He has created you in stages?
Malikwhen He has created you in gradual stages?[14]
QXPKnowing that He has created you in successive stages.
Maulana AliAnd indeed He has created you by various stages.
Free Minds"While He created you in stages?"
Qaribullah He has created you by stages!

George Salesince He hath created you variously?
JM RodwellFor He it is who hath formed you by successive steps.

Asadseeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages?



Nuh 071:015

71:15 الم تروا كيف خلق الله سبع سموات طباقا


TransliterationAlam taraw kayfa khalaqa Allahu sabAAa samawatin tibaqan
Literal'Do you not see, understand how God created seven skies/space(s) (in) stages/layers/plates ?'

Yusuf Ali"'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another,
PickthalSee ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony,
Arberry Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another,
ShakirDo you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens ,~ one above another,
SarwarHave you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other
KhalifaDo you not realize that GOD created seven universes in layers?
Hilali/KhanSee you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another,
H/K/SaheehDo you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers
MalikCan you not see how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other,[15]

71:16 وجعل القمر فيهن نورا وجعل الشمس سراجا


TransliterationWajaAAala alqamara feehinna nooran wajaAAala alshshamsa sirajan
Literal'And He made/put the moon in them (as) a light, and He made/put the sun (as) a lamp .'

JM RodwellAnd He hath placed therein the moon as a light, and hath placed there the sun as a torch;

Asadand has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp?



Nuh 071:017

71:17 والله انبتكم من الارض نباتا


TransliterationWaAllahu anbatakum mina al-ardi nabatan
Literal'And God sprouted/grew you from the earth/Planet Earth (as) plants/growth.'

Yusuf Ali"'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually),
PickthalAnd Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth,
Arberry And God caused you to grow out of the earth,
ShakirAnd Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth:
SarwarGod made you grow from the earth.
KhalifaAnd GOD germinated you from the earth like plants.
Hilali/KhanAnd Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. (Tafsir At-Tabaree, Vol.29, Page 97).
H/K/SaheehAnd Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.
MalikAllah has caused you to grow as a growth from the earth.[17]
QXPAnd Allah has caused you to grow as a growth from the earth.
Maulana AliAnd Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth as a growth,
Free Minds"And God made you grow from the Earth like plants."
Qaribullah Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth,

George SaleGod hath also produced and caused you to spring forth from the earth:
JM RodwellAnd God hath caused you to spring forth from the earth like a plant;

Asad"And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; 10 and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]:



Nuh 071:018

71:18 ثم يعيدكم فيها ويخرجكم اخراجا


TransliterationThumma yuAAeedukum feeha wayukhrijukum ikhrajan
LiteralThen He returns/repeats you in it, and He brings you out bringing out .'"

Yusuf Ali"'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)?
PickthalAnd afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing.
Arberry then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth.
ShakirThen He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth:
SarwarHe will make you return to it and then take you out of it again
KhalifaThen He returns you into it, and He will surely bring you out.
Hilali/KhanAfterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)?
H/K/SaheehThen He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.
MalikHe will return you to the same earth and then raise you back to life again on the Day of Resurrection?[18]
QXPThen He returns you into the earth and He will bring you forth again, a new bringing.
Maulana AliThen He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth.
Free Minds"Then He returns you to it, and He brings you out totally?"
Qaribullah and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth.

George SaleHereafter He will cause you to return into the same; and He will again take you thence, by bringing you forth from your graves.
JM RodwellHereafter will He turn you back into it again, and will bring you forth anew-

Asadand [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection.



Nuh 071:019

71:19 والله جعل لكم الارض بساطا


TransliterationWaAllahu jaAAala lakumu al-arda bisatan
Literal'And God made/put for you the earth/Planet Earth outstretched/widened .'

Yusuf Ali"'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out),
PickthalAnd Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you
Arberry And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet,
ShakirAnd Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse,
SarwarGod has spread out the earth
KhalifaGOD made the earth habitable for you.
Hilali/KhanAnd Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse).

71:20 لتسلكوا منها سبلا فجاجا

LiteralTo pass/thread from it wide mountain paths roads/paths ."'

Yusuf Ali"'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'"
PickthalThat ye may thread the valley-ways thereof.
Arberry that thereof you may thread ways, ravines."
ShakirThat you may go along therein in wide paths.
Sarwarfor you, so that you may walk along its wide roads.
KhalifaThat you may build roads therein.
Hilali/KhanThat you may go about therein in broad roads.
H/K/SaheehThat you may follow therein roads of passage.' "
Malikso that you may walk in its spacious paths."[20]
QXPThat you may travel thereon on spacious valley-ways.

Free Minds"So that you may seek in it ways and paths?"
Qaribullah so that you walk in its spacious paths." '

George Salethat ye may walk therein through spacious paths.
JM RodwellThat ye may walk therein along spacious paths."'

Nuh 071:021

71:21 قال نوح رب انهم عصوني واتبعوا من لم يزده ماله وولده الا خسارا


TransliterationQala noohun rabbi innahum AAasawnee waittabaAAoo man lam yazidhu maluhu wawaladuhu illa khasaran
LiteralNoah said: "My Lord, that they truly disobeyed me, and they followed who his properties/possessions , and his children/child did not increase him except loss ."

Yusuf AliNoah said: "O my Lord! They have disobeyed me, but they follow (men) whose wealth and children give them no increase but only Loss.
PickthalNoah said: My Lord! Lo! they have disobeyed me and followed one whose wealth and children increase him in naught save ruin;
Arberry Noah said, 'My Lord, they have rebelled against me, and followed him whose wealth and children increase him only in loss,
ShakirNuh said: My Lord! surely they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children have added to him nothing but loss.
SarwarNoah said, "Lord, they have disobeyed me and followed those whose wealth and children will only bring about destruction for them.
KhalifaNoah said, "My Lord, they disobeyed me, and followed those who were even more corrupted when blessed with money and children.
Hilali/KhanNooh (Noah) said: "My Lord! They have disobeyed me, and followed one whose wealth and children give him no increase but only loss.
H/K/SaheehNoah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.
MalikFinally, Noah submitted: "O Lord! My people have disobeyed me, and followed those chiefs whose wealth and children have added to them nothing but loss.[21]
QXPThen Noah said, "My Lord! Behold, they have opposed me throughout, for they follow him whose wealth and children have led him increasingly into ruin.
Maulana AliNoah said: My Lord, surely they disobey me and follow him whose wealth and children have increased him in naught but loss.
Free MindsNoah said: "My Lord, they have disobeyed me and have followed whose money and children only increased him in loss."
Qaribullah Noah said: 'My Lord, they have rebelled against me and followed he whose wealth and offspring increase him only in loss,

George SaleNoah said, Lord, verily they are disobedient unto me; and they follow him whose riches and children do no other than increase his perdition.
JM RodwellSaid Noah, "O my Lord! they rebel against me, and they follow those whose riches and children do but aggravate their ruin."

Asad[And] Noah continued: "O my Sustainer! Behold, they have opposed me [throughout], for they follow people whose wealth and children lead them increasingly into ruin,



Nuh 071:022

71:22 ومكروا مكرا كبارا


TransliterationWamakaroo makran kubbaran
LiteralAnd they cheated/deceived , a great/magnified cheatery/deceit .

Yusuf Ali"And they have devised a tremendous Plot.
PickthalAnd they have plotted a mighty plot,
Arberry and have devised a mighty device
ShakirAnd they have planned a very great plan.
SarwarThey have arrogantly plotted evil plans against me,
Khalifa"They schemed terrible schemes.
Hilali/Khan"And they have plotted a mighty plot.
H/K/SaheehAnd they conspired an immense conspiracy.
MalikThey have devised an outrageous plot,[22]
QXPAnd they plot tremendous schemes.
Maulana AliAnd they have planned a mighty plan.
Free MindsAnd they plotted a great plotting.
Qaribullah they have devised a mighty plot,

George SaleAnd they devised a dangerous plot against Noah:
JM RodwellAnd they plotted a great plot;

Asadand who have devised a most awesome blasphemy [against Thee],



Nuh 071:023

71:23 وقالوا لاتذرن الهتكم ولاتذرن ودا ولاسواعا ولايغوث ويعوق ونسرا


TransliterationWaqaloo la tatharunna alihatakum wala tatharunna waddan wala suwaAAan wala yaghootha wayaAAooqa wanasran
LiteralAnd they said: "Do not leave (E) your gods, and do not leave (E) Waddan (could be an idol god), and nor Sowa'an (a female idol god, worshipped by Hothail tribe of Arabs in pre-Islam), and nor Yaghootha (an idol god), and Yaooka (an idol god), and Nasran (an idol god)."

Yusuf Ali"And they have said (to each other), 'Abandon not your gods: Abandon neither Wadd nor Suwa', neither Yaguth nor Ya'uq, nor Nasr';-
PickthalAnd they have said: Forsake not your gods. Forsake not Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.
Arberry and have said, "Do not leave your gods, and do not leave Wadd, nor Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq, neither Nasr."
ShakirAnd they say: By no means leave your gods, nor leave Wadd, nor Suwa; nor Yaghus, and Yauq and Nasr.
Sarwarand have said to each other, 'Do not give-up your idols. Do not renounce Wadd, Suwa`, Yaghuth, Ya`uq and Nasr (names of certain idols).
Khalifa"They said, `Do not abandon your gods. Do not abandon Wadd, Suwaa`, Yaghouth, Ya`ooq, and Nasr.'
Hilali/Khan"And they have said: You shall not leave your gods, nor shall you leave Wadd, nor Suwa, nor Yaghooth, nor Yaooq, nor Nasr (names of the idols);
H/K/SaheehAnd said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa or Yaghuth and Yauq and Nasr.
Malikand said to each other: 'Do not leave your gods; especially Wadd, Suwa, Yaghus, Yauq and Nasr (the names of their idols).'[23]
QXPAnd keep telling one another, "Do not abandon your gods! And forsake not Wadd, nor Suw'a, nor Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr."
Maulana AliAnd they say: Forsake not your gods; nor forsake Wadd, nor Suwa’, nor Yaghuth and Ya’uq and Nasr.
Free MindsAnd they said: "Do not abandon your gods, do not abandon Destroyer, nor Night Group, nor Helper and Deterrer and Eagle."
Qaribullah and said: 'Do not renounce your gods, do not leave waddan or suwa'an or yaghutha, or ya'uqa, or nasra. '

George SaleAnd the chief men said to the others, ye shall by no means leave your gods; neither shall ye forsake Wadd, nor Sowa, nor Yaghuth, and Yauk, and Nesr.
JM RodwellAnd they said, "Forsake not your Gods; forsake not Wadd nor Sowah, Nor Yaghuth and Yahuk and Nesr;"

Asadinasmuch as they said [to their followers], 'Do not ever abandon your gods: abandon neither Wadd nor Suwa', and neither Yaghuth nor Ya'uq nor Nasr!'



Nuh 071:024

71:24 وقد اضلوا كثيرا ولاتزد الظالمين الا ضلالا


TransliterationWaqad adalloo katheeran wala tazidi alththalimeena illa dalalan
LiteralAnd they had misguided many, and (my Lord), do not increase the unjust/oppressive except misguidance.

Yusuf Ali"They have already misled many; and grant Thou no increase to the wrong-doers but in straying (from their mark)."
PickthalAnd they have led many astray, and Thou increasest the wrong-doers in naught save error.
Arberry And they have led many astray. Increase Thou not the evildoers save in error!'
ShakirAnd indeed they have led astray many, and do not increase the unjust in aught but error.
SarwarThey have misled many and the unjust will achieve nothing but more error".
Khalifa"They misled many. Therefore, let the wicked plunge deeper into loss."
Hilali/Khan"And indeed they have led many astray. And (O Allah): Grant no increase to the Zalimoon (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) save error. "
H/K/SaheehAnd already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."
MalikThey have already misled many, so O Lord, do not increase the wrongdoers in anything but deviation."[24]
QXPAnd they have thus led a great many people astray (and divided them). And Your Laws let go more and more astray those who displace Truth with falsehood."
Maulana AliAnd indeed they have led many astray. And increase Thou the wrongdoers in naught but perdition.
Free MindsAnd they have misguided many, but We only increase the wicked in misguidance.
Qaribullah And they have led many astray. (Noah supplicated saying): 'Allah, do not increase the harmdoers except in error! '

George SaleAnd they seduced many; -- for thou shalt only increase error in the wicked: --
JM RodwellAnd they caused many to err;-and thou, too, O Muhammad! shalt be the means of increasing only error in the wicked-

Asad"And so they have led many a one astray: hence, ordain Thou that these evildoers stray but farther and farther away [from all that they may desire]!"



Nuh 071:025

71:25 مما خطيئاتهم اغرقوا فادخلوا نارا فلم يجدوا لهم من دون الله انصارا


TransliterationMimma khatee-atihim oghriqoo faodkhiloo naran falam yajidoo lahum min dooni Allahi ansaran
LiteralFrom what their sins/wrongs they were drowned/sunken, so they were made to enter fire , so they did not find for them from other than God victoriors/saviors .

Yusuf AliBecause of their sins they were drowned (in the flood), and were made to enter the Fire (of Punishment): and they found- in lieu of Allah- none to help them.
PickthalBecause of their sins they were drowned, then made to enter a Fire. And they found they had no helpers in place of Allah.
Arberry And because of their transgressions they were drowned, and admitted into a Fire, for they found not, apart from God, any to help them.
ShakirBecause of their wrongs they were drowned, then made to enter fire, so they did not find any helpers besides Allah.
SarwarBecause of their sins, they were drowned and made to enter hell. They could find no one to help them besides God.
KhalifaBecause of their sins they were drowned and assigned to the hellfire. They found no helpers to protect them from GOD.
Hilali/KhanBecause of their sins they were drowned, then were made to enter the Fire, and they found none to help them instead of Allah.
H/K/SaheehBecause of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers.
MalikBecause of their wrong doings they were drowned in the great flood and made to enter the fire. They found no one besides Allah to help them.[25]
QXPAnd so, because of faults upon faults, they were drowned, then made to enter a Fire. And they found out that they had no helpers besides Allah. (Made to enter: Before Allah is Eternal Now. The past tense also indicates the inevitable outcome).
Maulana AliBecause of their wrongs they were drowned, then made to enter Fire, so they found no helpers besides Allah.
Free MindsFor their sins they were drowned, then they were admitted to the Fire, and they could not find beside God any victor.
Qaribullah So because of their sins they were drowned and admitted into the Fire. They found none to help them other than Allah.

George SaleBecause of their sins they were drowned, and cast into the fire of hell; and they found none to protect them against God.
JM RodwellBecause of their sins they were drowned, and made to go into the Fire; And they found that they had no helper save God.

AsadAnd so, because of their sins, they were drowned [in the great flood], and were doomed to suffer the fire [of the hereafter]; 16 and they found none who could succour them against God.



Nuh 071:026

71:26 وقال نوح رب لاتذر على الارض من الكافرين ديارا


TransliterationWaqala noohun rabbi la tathar AAala al-ardi mina alkafireena dayyaran
LiteralAnd Noah said: "My Lord, do not leave on the earth/Planet Earth from the disbelievers a resident/inhabitant."

Yusuf AliAnd Noah, said: "O my Lord! Leave not of the Unbelievers, a single one on earth!
PickthalAnd Noah said: My Lord! Leave not one of the disbelievers in the land.
Arberry And Noah said, 'My Lord, leave not upon the earth of the unbelievers even one.
ShakirAnd Nuh said: My Lord! leave not upon the land any dweller from among the unbelievers:
SarwarNoah said, "Lord, do not leave a single disbeliever on earth;
KhalifaNoah also said, "My Lord, do not leave a single disbeliever on earth.
Hilali/KhanAnd Nooh (Noah) said: "My Lord! Leave not one of the disbelievers on the earth!
H/K/SaheehAnd Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.
MalikAs Noah had prayed: "O Lord! Do not leave a single unbeliever on the surface of the earth.[26]
QXPAnd Noah said, "My Lord! Leave not any of these rejecters to dwell in this valley.
Maulana AliAnd Noah said: My Lord, leave not of the disbelievers any dweller on the land.
Free MindsAnd Noah said: "My Lord, do not leave on the Earth any of the rejecters at all."
Qaribullah And Noah (supplicated) saying: 'My Lord, do not leave a single unbeliever upon the earth.

George SaleAnd Noah said, Lord, leave not any families of the unbelievers on the earth:
JM RodwellAnd Noah said, "Lord, leave not one single family of Infidels on the Earth:

AsadAnd Noah prayed: "O my Sustainer! Leave not on earth any of those who deny the truth:



Nuh 071:027

71:27 انك ان تذرهم يضلوا عبادك ولايلدوا الا فاجرا كفارا


TransliterationInnaka in tatharhum yudilloo AAibadaka wala yalidoo illa fajiran kaffaran
LiteralThat You, if You leave them, they misguide Your worshippers/servants , and they do not give birth except (to a) debaucher/corrupter, disbeliever.

Yusuf Ali"For, if Thou dost leave (any of) them, they will but mislead Thy devotees, and they will breed none but wicked ungrateful ones.
PickthalIf Thou shouldst leave them, they will mislead Thy slaves and will beget none save lewd ingrates.
Arberry Surely, if Thou leavest them, they will lead Thy servants astray, and will beget none but unbelieving libertines.
ShakirFor surely if Thou leave them they will lead astray Thy servants, and will not beget any but immoral, ungrateful (children)
Sarwarif You do, they will mislead Your servants and will only give birth to ungrateful sinners.
Khalifa"For if you let them, they will only mislead your servants and give birth to nothing but wicked disbelievers.
Hilali/Khan"If You leave them, they will mislead Your slaves, and they will beget none but wicked disbelievers."
H/K/SaheehIndeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.
MalikFor if You spare any of them, they will mislead your servants and beget none but wicked unbelievers.[27]
QXPIf you should leave them, they will mislead Your servants and they will only beget division and ingratitude.
Maulana AliFor if Thou leave them, they will lead astray Thy servants, and will not beget any but immortal, ungrateful ones.
Free Minds"If you are to leave them, then they will misguide Your servants and they will only give birth to a wicked rejecter."
Qaribullah Surely, if You leave them they will mislead Your worshipers and father none but the immoral, and unbelievers.

George SaleFor if thou leave them, they will seduce thy servants, and will beget none but a wicked and unbelieving offspring.
JM RodwellFor if thou leave them they will beguile thy servants and will beget only sinners, infidels.

Asadfor, behold, If Thou dost leave them, they will [always try to] lead astray those who worship Thee, and will give birth to nothing but wickedness and stubborn ingratitude.



Nuh 071:028

71:28 رب غفر لي ولوالدي ولمن دخل بيت مؤمنا وللمؤمنين والمؤمنات ولاتزد الظالمين الا تبارا


TransliterationRabbi ighfir lee waliwalidayya waliman dakhala baytiya mu/minan walilmu/mineena waalmu/minati wala tazidi alththalimeena illa tabaran
LiteralMy Lord forgive for me and to my parents, and to who entered my house/home believing, and to the believers (M), and the believers (F), and do not increase the unjust/oppressive except destruction/ruin

Yusuf Ali"O my Lord! Forgive me, my parents, all who enter my house in Faith, and (all) believing men and believing women: and to the wrong-doers grant Thou no increase but in perdition!"
PickthalMy Lord! Forgive me and my parents and him who entereth my house believing, and believing men and believing women, and increase not the wrong-doers in aught save ruin.
Arberry My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whosoever enters my house as a believer, and the believers, men and women alike; and do Thou not increase the evildoers save in ruin!'

Hilali/Khan"My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women. And to the Zalimoon (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) grant You no increase but destruction!"
H/K/SaheehMy Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction." 72-Surah Al-Jinn Bismillahir Raúmanir-Raúeem
MalikO Lord! Forgive me, my parents and every true believer who seeks refuge in my house, and all believing men and believing women. As to the wrongdoers, grant them increase in nothing but destruction."[28]
QXPMy Lord! Grant unto me the protection of forgiveness and unto my parents and whoever enters my house in Faith, and unto all the believing men and the believing women (of all times). And increase the oppressors in nothing but ruin of their evil schemes."
Maulana AliMy Lord, forgive me and my parents and him who enters my house believing, and the believing men and the believing women. And increase not the wrongdoers in aught but destruction!
Free Minds"My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my home as a believer, and to the believing men and believing women, and do not increase the wicked except in destruction."
Qaribullah Forgive me, My Lord, and my parents, and whosoever seeks refuge in my house as a believer, and the believers men and women alike, and do not increase the harmdoers except in ruin! '

George SaleLord, forgive me and my parents, and every one who shall enter my house, being a true believer, and the true believers of both sexes; and add unto the unjust doers nothing but destruction.
JM RodwellO my Lord, forgive me, and my parents, and every one who, being a believer, shall enter my house, and believers men and women: and add to the wicked nought but perdition."

Asad"O my Sustainer! Grant Thy forgiveness unto me and unto my parents, and unto everyone who enters my house as a believer, and unto all believing men and believing women [of later times]; and grant Thou that the doers of evil shall increasingly meet with destruction!"
