al-A`raf (The Heights, The Elevated Places) 7:166

7:166 فلما عتوا عن مانهوا عنه قلنا لهم كونوا قردة خاسئين


TransliterationFalamma AAataw AAan ma nuhoo AAanhu qulna lahum koonoo qiradatan khasi-eena
LiteralSo when they became arrogant/disobedient from what they were forbidden/prevented from it, We said to them: "Be/become despised/diminished apes/monkeys."

Yusuf AliWhen in their insolence they transgressed (all) prohibitions, We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected."
PickthalSo when they took pride in that which they had been forbidden, We said unto them: Be ye apes despised and loathed!
Arberry And when they turned in disdain from that forbidding We said to them, 'Be you apes, miserably slinking!'
ShakirTherefore when they revoltingly persisted in what they had been forbidden, We said to them: Be (as) apes, despised and hated.
