al-Ma'idah (The Table, The Table Spread)

5:87 ياايها الذين امنوا لاتحرموا طيبات مااحل الله لكم ولاتعتدوا ان الله لايحب المعتدين


TransliterationYa ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tuharrimoo tayyibati ma ahalla Allahu lakum wala taAAtadoo inna Allaha la yuhibbu almuAAtadeena
LiteralYou, you those who believed, do not forbid/prohibit goodnesses (from) what God permitted/allowed for you, and do not transgress/violate , that God does not love/like the transgressors/violators.

Yusuf AliO ye who believe! make not unlawful the good things which Allah hath made lawful for you, but commit no excess: for Allah loveth not those given to excess.
PickthalO ye who believe! Forbid not the good things which Allah hath made lawful for you, and transgress not, Lo! Allah loveth not transgressors.
Arberry O believers, forbid not such good things as God has permitted you; and transgress not; God loves not transgressors.
ShakirO you who believe! do not forbid (yourselves) the good things which Allah has made lawful for you and do not exceed the limits; surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits.
SarwarBelievers, do not make unlawful the pure things which God has made lawful for you. Do not transgress for God does not love the transgressors.
KhalifaO you who believe, do not prohibit good things that are made lawful by GOD, and do not aggress; GOD dislikes the aggressors.
Hilali/KhanO you who believe! Make not unlawful the Taiyibat (all that is good as regards foods, things, deeds, beliefs, persons, etc.) which Allah has made lawful to you, and transgress not. Verily, Allah does not like the transgressors.
H/K/SaheehO you who have believed, do not prohibit the good things which Allah has made lawful to you and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors.
MalikO believers! Do not make unlawful those wholesome things which Allah has made lawful for you. Do not transgress; Allah does not love the transgressors.[87]
QXPO You who have chosen to be graced with belief! Do not deprive yourselves of the good things of life that Allah has made Lawful to you. But commit no excesses. Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. (Self-mortification by ascetics, monks and mystics is not the way to 'purify' a 'soul').
Maulana AliO you who believe, forbid not the good things which Allah has made lawful for you and exceed not the limits. Surely Allah loves not those who exceed the limits.
Free MindsO you who believe, do not forbid the good things that God has made lawful to you, and do not aggress; God does not like the aggressors.
Qaribullah Believers, do not forbid the good things that Allah has made lawful to you. Do not transgress; Allah does not love the transgressors.

George SaleO true believers, forbid not the good things which God hath allowed you; but transgress not, for God loveth not the transgressors.
JM RodwellO ye who believe! interdict not the healthful viands which God hath allowed you; go not beyond this limit. God loveth not those who outstep it.

AsadO YOU who have attained to faith! Do not deprive yourselves of the good things of life which God has made lawful to you,'°° but do not transgress the bounds of what is right: verily, God does not love those who transgress the bounds of what is right.
