al-Ma'idah (The Table, The Table Spread)

5:30 فطوعت له نفسه قتل اخيه فقتله فاصبح من الخاسرين


TransliterationFatawwaAAat lahu nafsuhu qatla akheehi faqatalahu faasbaha mina alkhasireena
LiteralSo his self consented for him, his brother's killing/murdering, so he killed him, so he became from the losers.

Yusuf AliThe (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and became (himself) one of the lost ones.
PickthalBut (the other's) mind imposed on him the killing of his brother, so he slew him and became one of the losers.
Arberry Then his soul prompted him to slay his brother, and he slew him, and became one of the losers.
