ash-Shu`ara' (The Poets) 26:158

26:158 فاخذهم العذاب ان في ذلك لاية وماكان اكثرهم مؤمنين


TransliterationFaakhathahumu alAAathabu inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mu/mineena
LiteralSo the torture punished/took them, that in that (is) an evidence/sign (E) , and most of them were not believing.

Yusuf AliBut the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
PickthalSo the retribution came on them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers.
Arberry and the chastisement seized them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers.

Asadfor the suffering [predicted by Salih,] befell them [then and there]. In this [story], behold, there is a message [unto men], even though most of them will not believe [in it].
