| 2:34 واذ قلنا للملائكة اسجدوا لادم فسجدوا الا ابليس ابى واستكبر وكان من الكافرين | |
| Transliteration | Wa-ith qulna lilmala-ikati osjudoo li-adama fasajadoo illa ibleesa aba waistakbara wakana mina alkafireena |
| Literal | And when We said to the angels: "Prostrate to Adam." So they prostrated except Satan , he refused/hated and became arrogant, and he was from the disbelievers. |
| Yusuf Ali | And behold, We said to the angels: "Bow down to Adam" and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject Faith. |
