| 16:88 الذين كفروا وصدوا عن سبيل الله زدناهم عذابا فوق العذاب بماكانوا يفسدون | |
| Transliteration | Allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi zidnahum AAathaban fawqa alAAathabi bima kanoo yufsidoona |
| Literal | Those who disbelieved and prevented/obstructed from Gods' way/path , We increased them torture over/on the torture, because (of) what they were corrupting/disordering . |
| Yusuf Ali | Those who reject Allah and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah - for them will We add Penalty to Penalty; for that they used to spread mischief. |
| Pickthal | For those who disbelieve and debar (men) from the way of Allah, We add doom to doom because they wrought corruption, |
| Arberry | Those that disbelieve and bar from the way of God -- them We shall give increase of chastisement upon chastisement, for that they were doing corruption. |
