az-Zalzalah 099:001

99:1 سورة الزلزلة بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ اذا زلزلت الارض زلزالها


TransliterationItha zulzilati al-ardu zilzalaha
LiteralWhen/if the earth/Planet Earth shook/trembled its shaking/trembling/earthquake.

Yusuf AliWhen the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion,
PickthalWhen Earth is shaken with her (final) earthquake
Arberry When earth is shaken with a mighty shaking
ShakirWhen the earth is shaken with her (violent) shaking,
SarwarWhen the earth is shaken by a terrible quake
KhalifaWhen the earth is severely quaked.
Hilali/KhanWhen the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake.
H/K/SaheehWhen the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake
MalikWhen the earth will be shaken to her utmost convulsion,[1]
QXPWhen the earth is shaken with her mighty quaking. (A mighty Revolution will overtake the world).
Maulana AliWhen the earth is shaken with her shaking,
Free MindsWhen the Earth shakes its shaking.
Qaribullah When the earth is shaken with its mighty shaking,

George SaleWhen the earth shall be shaken by an earthquake;
JM RodwellWHEN the Earth with her quaking shall quake

AsadWHEN THE EARTH quakes with her [last] mighty quaking,



az-Zalzalah 099:002

99:2 واخرجت الارض اثقالها


TransliterationWaakhrajati al-ardu athqalaha
LiteralAnd the earth/Planet Earth brought out its loads/weights .

Yusuf AliAnd the earth throws up her burdens (from within),
PickthalAnd Earth yieldeth up her burdens,
Arberry and earth brings forth her burdens,
ShakirAnd the earth brings forth her burdens,
Sarwarand it throws out its burden,
KhalifaAnd the earth ejects its loads.
Hilali/KhanAnd when the earth throws out its burdens,
H/K/SaheehAnd the earth discharges its burdens
Malikand the earth shall bring out all her inner burdens,[2]
QXPAnd the earth yields up her burdens. (Archaeology and mining will make long strides. The heavy tyrants will be thrown out of power).
Maulana AliAnd the earth brings forth her burdens,
Free MindsAnd the Earth brings out its loads.
Qaribullah and when the earth brings forth its burdens

George Saleand the earth shall cast forth her burdens;
JM RodwellAnd the Earth shall cast forth her burdens,

Asadand [when] the earth yields up her burdens,



az-Zalzalah 099:003

99:3 وقال الانسان مالها


TransliterationWaqala al-insanu ma laha
LiteralAnd the human/mankind said: "What (is) for it (what is wrong with it)?"

Yusuf AliAnd man cries (distressed): 'What is the matter with her?'-
PickthalAnd man saith: What aileth her?
Arberry and Man says., 'What ails her?'
ShakirAnd man says: What has befallen her?
Sarwarthe human being will say (in horror), "What is happening to it?".
KhalifaThe human will wonder: "What is happening?"
Hilali/KhanAnd man will say: "What is the matter with it?"
H/K/SaheehAnd man says, "What is [wrong] with it?"
Malikman shall say: "What is happening to her?"[3]
QXPAnd mankind cries out, "What has happened to her?" (People will be stunned at the speed of unfolding events).
Maulana AliAnd man says: What has befallen her?
Free MindsAnd man will Say: "What is wrong with it?"
Qaribullah and the human asks: "What is the matter with it?"

George Saleand a man shall say, what aileth her?
JM RodwellAnd man shall say, What aileth her?

Asadand man cries out, "What has happened to her?" -



az-Zalzalah 099:004

99:4 يومئذ تحدث اخبارها


TransliterationYawma-ithin tuhaddithu akhbaraha
LiteralThat day it tells/informs (about) its news/information/knowledge.

Yusuf AliOn that Day will she declare her tidings:
PickthalThat day she will relate her chronicles,
Arberry upon that day she shall tell her tidings
ShakirOn that day she shall tell her news,
SarwarOn that day the earth will declare all (the activities of the human being) which have taken place on it,
KhalifaOn that day, it will tell its news.
Hilali/KhanThat Day it will declare its information (about all what happened over it of good or evil).
H/K/SaheehThat Day, it will report its news
MalikOn that Day she shall report whatever had happened on her,[4]
QXPAt that time she will relate her stories. (History of benevolent revolutions will repeat itself on a massive scale).
Maulana AliOn that day she will tell her news,
Free MindsOn that Day it will inform its news.
Qaribullah On that Day it shall proclaim its news,

George SaleOn that day the earth shall declare her tidings,
JM RodwellOn that day shall she tell out her tidings,

Asadon that Day will she recount all her tidings,



az-Zalzalah 099:005

99:5 بان ربك اوحى لها


TransliterationBi-anna rabbaka awha laha
LiteralWith that your Lord inspired/transmitted to it.

Yusuf AliFor that thy Lord will have given her inspiration.
PickthalBecause thy Lord inspireth her.
Arberry for that her Lord has inspired her.
ShakirBecause your Lord had inspired her.
Sarwarhaving been inspired by your Lord.
KhalifaThat your Lord has commanded it.
Hilali/KhanBecause your Lord has inspired it.
H/K/SaheehBecause your Lord has commanded it.
Malikfor your Lord shall have commanded her to do so.[5]
QXPFor your Lord will have sent His Command to her. (Progressive unfolding of the Divine Decree).
Maulana AliAs if thy Lord had revealed to her.
Free MindsThat your Lord had inspired it to do so.
Qaribullah for your Lord will have revealed to it.

George Salefor that thy Lord will inspire her.
JM RodwellBecause thy Lord shall have inspired her.

Asadas thy Sustainer will have inspired her to do!



az-Zalzalah 099:006

99:6 يومئذ يصدر الناس اشتاتا ليروا اعمالهم


TransliterationYawma-ithin yasduru alnnasu ashtatan liyuraw aAAmalahum
LiteralThat day, the people proceed/arise separately to see their deeds.

Yusuf AliOn that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done).
PickthalThat day mankind will issue forth in scattered groups to be shown their deeds.
Arberry Upon that day men shall issue in scatterings to see their works,
ShakirOn that day men shall come forth in sundry bodies that they may be shown their works.
SarwarOn that day, people will come out of their graves in different groups to see (the results of) their own deeds.
KhalifaOn that day, the people will issue from every direction, to be shown their works.
Hilali/KhanThat Day mankind will proceed in scattered groups that they may be shown their deeds.
H/K/SaheehThat Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.
MalikOn that Day men shall proceed in sorted out groups to be shown their ‘Book of Deeds.’[6]
QXPOn that Day will all people come forth as separate entities, to be shown their deeds. (The guilty will stand apart from the innocent. (36:59)).
Maulana AliOn that day men will come forth in sundry bodies that they may be shown their works.
Free MindsOn that Day, the people will be brought out in throngs to be shown their works.
Qaribullah On that Day mankind shall issue in scatterings to see their deeds.

George SaleOn that day men shall go forward in distinct classes, that they may behold their works.
JM RodwellOn that day shall men come forward in throngs to behold their works,

AsadOn that Day will all men come forward, cut off from one another, 3 to be shown their [past] deeds.



az-Zalzalah 099:007

99:7 فمن يعمل مثقال ذرة خيرا يره


TransliterationFaman yaAAmal mithqala tharratin khayran yarahu
LiteralSo who makes/does a smallest particle of anything (smaller than an atom's) weight (of) good sees it.

Yusuf AliThen shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!
PickthalAnd whoso doeth good an atom's weight will see it then,
Arberry and whoso has done an atom's weight of good shall see it,
ShakirSo. he who has done an atom's weight of good shall see it
SarwarWhoever has done an atom's weight of good,
KhalifaWhoever does an atom's weight of good will see it.
Hilali/KhanSo whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it.
H/K/SaheehSo whoever does an atomâ s weight of good will see it,
MalikThen, whoever has done an atom’s weight of good shall see it there,[7]
QXPThen whoever has done an atom's weight of good, will see it.
Maulana AliSo he who does an atom’s weight of good will see it.
Free MindsSo whoever does an atoms weight of good will see it.
Qaribullah Whosoever has done an atom's weight of good shall see it,

George SaleAnd whoever shall have wrought good of the weight of an ant, shall behold the same.
JM RodwellAnd whosoever shall have wrought an atom's weight of good shall behold it,

AsadAnd so, he who shall have done an atom's weight of good, shall behold it;



az-Zalzalah 099:008

99:8 ومن يعلم مثقال ذرة شرا يره


TransliterationWaman yaAAmal mithqala tharratin sharran yarahu
LiteralAnd who makes/does a smallest particle of anything (smaller than an atom's) weight (of) bad/evil sees it.475

Yusuf AliAnd anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it.
PickthalAnd whoso doeth ill an atom's weight will see it then.
Arberry and whoso has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it.
ShakirAnd he who has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it.
Sarwarwill see it and whoever has done an atom's weight of evil, will also see it.
KhalifaAnd whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.
Hilali/KhanAnd whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it.
H/K/SaheehAnd whoever does an atomâ s weight of evil will see it.
Malikand whoever has done an atom’s weight of evil shall see it there.[8]
QXPAnd whoever has done an atom's weight of evil, will see it. (The Justice system will improve on earth. And, finally, the Day of Judgment will deliver the Divine Justice).
Maulana AliAnd he who does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.
Free MindsAnd whoever does an atoms weight of evil will see it.
Qaribullah and whosoever has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it.

George SaleAnd whoever shall have wrought evil of the weight of an ant, shall behold the same.
JM RodwellAnd whosoever shall have wrought an atom's weight of evil shall behold it.

Asadand he who shall have done an atom's weight of evil, shall behold it.
