102:1 سورة التكاثر بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛـــــــ الهاكم التكاثر


TransliterationAlhakumu alttakathuru
LiteralThe multiplication distracted/diverted you .

Yusuf AliThe mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),
PickthalRivalry in worldly increase distracteth you
Arberry Gross rivalry diverts you,
ShakirAbundance diverts you,
SarwarThe desire to have more of the worldly gains have pre-occupied you so much (that you have neglected remembring God),
KhalifaYou remain preoccupied with hoarding.
Hilali/KhanThe mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you,
H/K/SaheehCompetition in [worldly] increase diverts you
MalikO mankind, you have been distracted by the rivalry of piling up worldly gains against one another.[1]
QXPThe relentless greed of material gains distracts you (from the real purpose of life). (57:20), (83:26).
Maulana AliAbundance diverts you,
Free MindsHoarding has distracted you.
Qaribullah The excessive gathering (of increase and boasting) occupied you (from worshipping and obeying)

George SaleThe emulous desire of multiplying riches and children employeth you,
JM RodwellTHE DESIRE of increasing riches occupieth you,

AsadYOU ARE OBSESSED by greed for more and more



at-Takathur 102:002

102:2 حتى زرتم المقابر


TransliterationHatta zurtumu almaqabira
LiteralUntil you visited the cemeteries/burial places .

Yusuf AliUntil ye visit the graves.
PickthalUntil ye come to the graves.
Arberry even till you visit the tombs.
ShakirUntil you come to the graves.
Sarwaruntil you come to the graves.
KhalifaUntil you go to the graves.
Hilali/KhanUntil you visit the graves (i.e. till you die).
H/K/SaheehUntil you visit the graveyards.
MalikYou will never be satisfied until you get into the grave.[2]
QXPUntil you go down to your graves.
Maulana AliUntil you come to the graves.
Free MindsUntil you visit the graves.
Qaribullah until you visit the graves.

JM RodwellTill ye come to the grave.

Asaduntil you go down to your graves.



at-Takathur 102:003

102:3 كلا سوف تعلمون


TransliterationKalla sawfa taAAlamoona
LiteralNo but you will/shall know.

Yusuf AliBut nay, ye soon shall know (the reality).
PickthalNay, but ye will come to know!
Arberry No indeed; but soon you shall know.
ShakirNay! you shall soon know,
SarwarYou shall know.
KhalifaIndeed, you will find out.
Hilali/KhanNay! You shall come to know!
H/K/SaheehNo! You are going to know.
MalikNevertheless, soon you shall come to know.[3]
QXPNay! But you will come to know!
Maulana AliNay, you will soon know,
Free MindsNo, you will find out.
Qaribullah But no, indeed, you shall soon know.

George SaleBy no means should ye thus employ your time: Hereafter shall ye know your folly.
JM RodwellNay! but in the end ye shall know

AsadNay, in time you will come to understand!



at-Takathur 102:004

102:4 ثم كلا سوف تعلمون


TransliterationThumma kalla sawfa taAAlamoona
LiteralThen no but you will/shall know.

Yusuf AliAgain, ye soon shall know!
PickthalNay, but ye will come to know!
Arberry Again, no indeed; but soon you shall know.
ShakirNay! Nay! you shall soon know.
SarwarYou shall cetainly know (about the consequences of your deeds).
KhalifaMost assuredly, you will find out.
Hilali/KhanAgain, Nay! You shall come to know!
H/K/SaheehThen no! You are going to know.
MalikAgain, nevertheless, soon you shall come to know.[4]
QXPAgain, Nay! You will come to know.
Maulana AliNay, again, you will soon know.
Free MindsThen again, you will find out.
Qaribullah Again, no indeed, you shall soon know.

George SaleAgain, by no means: Hereafter shall ye know your folly.
JM RodwellNay! once more,in the end ye shall know your folly.

AsadAnd once again: 2 Nay, in time you will come to understand!



at-Takathur 102:005

102:5 كلا لو تعلمون علم اليقين


TransliterationKalla law taAAlamoona AAilma alyaqeeni
LiteralNo but if you know knowledge (of) the assurance/certainty .

Yusuf AliNay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!)
PickthalNay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge!
Arberry No indeed; did you know with the knowledge of certainty,
ShakirNay! if you had known with a certain knowledge,
SarwarYou will certainly have the knowledge of your deeds beyond all doubt.
KhalifaIf only you could find out for certain.
Hilali/KhanNay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things)
H/K/SaheehNo! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty…
MalikNay! Would that you knew through the real knowledge provided to you in this Qur’an and care about your life in the Hereafter.[5]
QXPNay, only if you could have certain knowledge.
Maulana AliNay, would that you knew with a certain knowledge!
Free MindsNo, if only you had the knowledge of certainty.
Qaribullah Indeed, did you know with certain knowledge

George SaleBy no means: If ye knew the consequence hereof with certainty of knowledge, ye would not act thus.
JM RodwellNay! would that ye knew it with knowledge of certainty!

AsadNay, if you could but understand [it] with an understanding [born] of certainty,



at-Takathur 102:006

102:6 لترون الجحيم


TransliterationLatarawunna aljaheema
LiteralYou would see/understand (E) the Hell .

Yusuf AliYe shall certainly see Hell-Fire!
PickthalFor ye will behold hell-fire.
Arberry you shall surely see Hell;
ShakirYou should most certainly have seen the hell;
SarwarYou will be shown hell
KhalifaYou would envision Hell.
Hilali/KhanVerily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)!
H/K/SaheehYou will surely see the Hellfire.
MalikBecause on the Day of Judgment when you shall see the hell,[6]
QXPYou would see it now, the Insurmountable Barrier (in the way of your personal development (29:54), (79:36), (82:16)).
Maulana AliYou will certainly see hell;
Free MindsYou would then see Hell.
Qaribullah that you shall surely see Hell?

George SaleVerily ye shall see hell:
JM RodwellSurely ye shall see hell-fire.

Asadyou would indeed, most surely, behold the blazing fire [of hell]!



at-Takathur 102:007

102:7 ثم لترونها عين اليقين


TransliterationThumma latarawunnaha AAayna alyaqeeni
LiteralThen you will see/understand it (with) the assurance's/certainty's eye (visually).

Yusuf AliAgain, ye shall see it with certainty of sight!
PickthalAye, ye will behold it with sure vision.
Arberry Again, you shall surely see it with the eye of certainty
ShakirThen you shall most certainly see it with the eye of certainty;
Sarwarand you will see it with your own eyes.
KhalifaThen you would see it with the eye of certainty.
Hilali/KhanAnd again, you shall see it with certainty of sight!
H/K/SaheehThen you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.
Malikand see it with the certainty of your own eyes[7]
QXPFinally, you will behold it with sure vision.
Maulana AliThen you will see it with certainty of sight;
Free MindsThen you will see it with the eye of certainty.
Qaribullah Again, you shall surely see it with the sight of certainty.

George SaleAgain, ye shall surely see it with the eye of certainty.
JM RodwellThen shall ye surely see it with the eye of certainty;

AsadIn the end you will indeed, most surely, behold it with the eye of certainty:



at-Takathur 102:008

102:8 ثم لتسألن يومئذ عن النعيم


TransliterationThumma latus-alunna yawma-ithin AAani alnnaAAeemi
LiteralThen (on) that day you will be asked/questioned (E) about the blessing/goodness .

Yusuf AliThen, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!).
PickthalThen, on that day, ye will be asked concerning pleasure.
Arberry then you shall be questioned that day concerning true bliss.
ShakirThen on that day you shall most certainly be questioned about the boons.
SarwarThen, on that day, you will be questioned about the bounties (of God).
KhalifaThen you will be questioned, on that day, about the blessings you had enjoyed.
Hilali/KhanThen, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)!
H/K/SaheehThen you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
Malik- you shall believe it, but that belief is going to do you no good because - on that Day, you shall be questioned about the blessings (faculties and resources that you were given in the worldly life - as to how you used them?)[8]
QXPAnd, then, on that Day you will be questioned what you did with the boon of life. (21:13).
Maulana AliThen on that day you shall certainly be questioned about the boons.
Free MindsThen you will be questioned, on that Day, about the blessings.
Qaribullah On that Day, you shall be questioned about the pleasures.

George SaleThen shall ye be examined, on that day, concerning the pleasures with which ye have amused yourselves in this life.
JM RodwellThen shall ye on that day be taken to task concerning pleasures.

Asadand on that Day you will most surely be called to account for [what you did with] the boon of life!
